1 out of 5 stars Weber 18" Grill Brush   August 1, 2010

This is a poorly designed product and overpriced simply because it has the Weber name attached. First off, it is made of wood which is very heavy compared to other plastic brushes.. Secondly, it is straight and this means an awkward angle when used while standing over the grill.
Today's modern plastic compounds mean that the plastic does not get hot and melt. It also means that they can be designed using good ergonomics that fit the human hand better for its scraping function.
Really good brushes can be had at any hardware store such as Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, etc.
Save your money! Don't buy this heavy awkward scraper.

4 out of 5 stars Does what it supposed to   July 15, 2010

What can I say... it's a grill brush. Nice heavy wooden handle, not plastic that can melt. Bristles packed very tightly. I generally replace these on a yearly basis, so it's not like I'm looking for any long term performance. Typical Weber quality. As for the rounded scraper not fitting on ceramic grates as others have pointed out... would not attempt to do so anyway as the ceramic finish can chip.

5 out of 5 stars Good Quality Product From Weber   June 9, 2010

I have owned mine for over a year now. I use it about 5 times a week and you can hardly tell it's been used. I highly recommend this for all grillers.

4 out of 5 stars A good grill cleaning tool   August 12, 2009

Weber 6422 18-Inch Grill Brush and Scraper

Our 10-year old Weber 6422 grill brush wore out and we replaced it with the same model. The current model has steel bristles, while the older model had brass bristles. Weber probably switched to steel to reduce their manufacturing costs (brass is more expensive), instead of staying with brass and simply raising the price to cover their costs.

In any case, steel should last longer than brass bristles. Brass is better on softer materials that could scratch, but for stainless steel (or steel) grill racks, steel bristles are better since they are stronger and stiffer than brass. The bristles do not appear to be stainless steel as asserted by other reviewers, since they are strongly attracted to magnets. Weber's web site doesn't claim the bristles are stainless.

The handle should be bent upward more, so you'd be less likely to bang your hand when brushing a grill rack that's still in the barbeque grill.

The 1/4" half-round scraper is the right size for Weber steel grill wire racks. The bristles are numerous, stiff, and plentiful, so they are effective in cleaning the top third or so of the grill rack wires. Competing brushes with fewer bristles or with the bristle bundles further apart can slip down between the grill wires, so they don't work as well.

This tool wouldn't be a good choice for scratch-prone surfaces. However, for the old-style BBQ grills (that use charcoal for fuel), this tool works well and is a good value.
