flimsy September 6, 2010 Casey I got this based on the cooks illustrated review, it does a decent job of pressing the garlic, but not as good as my previous metal press. It feels super flimsy too. I like the way it cleans.
Just OK August 9, 2010 Charles This garlic press works as advertised in that it is easy enough to use even for my wife who has small hands, and it is pretty comfortable. She was easily able to apply sufficient force to press the garlic. However as some others have noted, the garlic does tend to ooze out around the sides when you press cloves with the paper skin still on them. The skins quickly clog the press, so you must open it up and clean them out to continue using it. Personally I have gone back to using my meat mallet and a piece of plastic wrap over a paper plate. This allows me to easily remove the skin, then turn over the mallet and pound it into a nice mashed state. The press does have a little bit of flex to it but nothing I would be concerned about. The overall construction seems fine to this manufacturing engineer. If you are using garlic without the paper skin it would be just fine.
great buy August 3, 2010 basquia works well, holds and minces one clove easily. Very easy to clean up. Good product.
Garlic Press July 1, 2010 James Askew (Columbus, GA USA) Great garlic press. Easy to use & clean-up. I had bought another press at the grocery store & was not at all pleased with it. It took too much effort to squeeze and a lot of the garlic escaped through openings where the press didn't fit together very well. Non of this happened with the Kuhn Rikon press. Excellent price and delivery service from Amazon.com
I love my Garlic Press June 25, 2010 S.G. (Sunnyvale, CA) I bought this garlic press because it was recommended by America's Test Kitchen, and I am very pleased with the results. Mincing garlic took so much time with the knife and cutting board, and the garlic smell was everywhere. This press makes things so much faster and easier. There is no need to mince garlic ahead of time; garlic cloves can be loaded in the hopper and squeezed directly into the cooking utensil while on the stove, and the mince is fine and distributes into the food evenly. Clean-up is also very easy, provided one doesn't let the garlic press dry out. I love this product and would recommend it to anyone who uses garlic on a regular basis.
